I am a Surface Pattern Designer, based in the bustling city of Amsterdam. I was born in 1980, in the south of The Netherlands and grew up in a family where crayons, paint and markers were always within reach. I spend many hours on finding out the best shapes and colour combinations on paper, fabric or any other material I could find in the house. This love for creating things leaded to signing up for Artschool, and falling in love with designing surface patterns. Today my patterns are mainly inspired by nature. The different shapes, lines and colours in flora and fauna are an inexhaustible source for me to play with. This is me! And this is what I love to do most: creating surface patterns! As long as I can remember I have always been busy drawing, painting and sewing. No wonder that after high school I went to the Academie voor Beeldende Kunsten in Maastricht. Here I delved into my passion for colours and patterns, but also discovered an interest in artisan textile design. My patterns are mainly inspired by nature, and especially the way nature was captured in decorative art history. The different shapes, lines and colours of our flora and fauna are an inexhaustible source for me to play with. When I design I work from my heart and my mission is to enrich everyday life with beautiful, colourful prints. I love helping my clients connect with their costumers, through my handmade art in their products. My specialties are well-balanced, complex floral patterns on perfect repeat. Over the years I have collaborated with several high quality (children’s) brands and with global retailers. I know how to translate their wishes in a modern, cheerful and positive way, that fits their DNA. Nowadays I live in the museum heart of Amsterdam, a bustling neighborhood full of inspiration, which makes everyday life exciting.Together with my husband, our three children, cat Rosie and cocker
